Not for Mothers Only: Raising Adolescents with healthy self-esteem in a fiercely competitive age

I'm getting ready to give a talk to Middle School parents. I've been interviewing middle schoolers asking how they'd advise their parents.  The results have been truly fascinating.  Bottom-line: Listen to us. Don't patronize us.  Respect us. We are not children. And, whatever you do, don't embarrass us!  I've got a special section on fathers - particular, fathers and daughters.  Fathers really underestimate their importance in the lives of their daughters. If fathers knew how to get more involved with their daughters in a nurturing and supportive way, many mental health troubles would be averted.
